| Summary | 0028304: General: [Mac IDE] Mouse ghosting when moving mouse over the IDE on High Sierra | ||||
| Description | We've been getting reports of mouse ghosting on High Sierra, where the mouse will 'duplicate' and leave a static image behind. This appears to be just a graphical issue. This happens when the mouse cursor changes to indicate a tool has been selected, or changing to the drag/rotate mouse. So far users have reported this in the Room, Image and Sprite Editors. We've also identified a possible temporary workaround, where if you set your Mac's mouse size to a non-normal size, the issue occurs less frequently. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | 1. Move the mouse across multiple areas of the IDE. 2. Try selecting different tools in the image editor, move the mouse around. 3. Move mouse over different in-IDE windows, changing it to rotate or drag mouse icon. 4. Observe how a static ghost of the mouse is left behind. Repro: 50%. | ||||

I think this might happen when we change the mouse cursor image, and High Sierra never clears it when the mouse returns to the OS default image. |

Replicated > 2.1.2.258 / rt 2.1.2.177 - Using a Mac with High Sierra, if you plug in a monitor via Thunderbolt, using the Thunderbolt HDMI, this issue replicates 100%. The mouse gets stuck on side panels, whenever the mouse icon changes, and can completely disappear in the image editor, making it really hard to use. |

This isn't us - we don't draw the mouse ourselves, the OS does (probably a hardware one), but we can look to see if there is a workaround. |

|
Confirmed that changing the size of the cursor on MacOS prevents this issue from occurring. |
