Especially with the advent of the Mac IDE it should work now since it would be useful to the respective users to debug their games on Mac and for crossplatform GMS2 Extension devtools that load/save user files outside of the sandbox

Also check with the example that get_open_filename() does not seem to work with buffer_load() right on Windows

Runtime 2.1.1.158 release notes mention get_*_filename for Mac. Does that mean they have been implemented already?
